Recently, there has been a lot of discussion about the plan to build a nickel mine in Indonesia. It is undeniable that Indonesia is the country with the largest nickel supply in the world. According to data from the Mineral Commodity Summaries 2025, Indonesia can produce 2.2 million tons of nickel from the world's total production of 3.7 million tons in 2024. This means that Indonesia can produce 59% of the total nickel produced worldwide. Moreover, Indonesia is predicted to have a nickel supply of 55 million tons from the world's total nickel supply of 130 million tons. In other words, Indonesia stores 42% of the world's total nickel supply.
